Someone has just bought a 30-year-old, high-mileage Ford F-150 SVT Lightning for U.S. $27,250.
Before the all-electric F-150 ‘Lightning’ came out, the automaker had used the nameplate for a sportier edition of the same truck in its 9th and 10th generations. This particular example belongs to a batch of 11,563 production units made in 1993–1995.
Buyers could choose between black, red and white for the exterior finish, but were limited to the same 5.8-liter V8 with 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW) at the output end. A four-speed auto transmission drove all four wheels.
With nearly 240,000 km (150,000 miles) under its belt, there were a few things going for this particular truck that ultimately justified the purchase. First of all, it has been maintained in excellent condition all along. Second, the owner had the stock sports suspension replaced with a more robust off-road setup. This included reinforced springs and shock absorbers, roll bars inside and out, and 35-inch all-terrain tires.
The trim spec mentions a CD player with an audio system, assorted power options, AC, a retractable rear window and power-adjustable bucket seats.
