Ford has managed to sell over 15,600 F-150 Lightning trucks last year and another 3,600 over the past two months. With the electric pickup as popular as it is, standing out may soon become problematic. Realizing this, someone in Illinois had their example upfitted to the hilt straight at the dealership.
A single look at the truck reveals a vivid white-and-red exterior with vintage chrome rollers in the arches and lifted suspension. The door handles and the side mirror caps also shine with chrome, as do the running boards from a third-party vendor. There is a solid red panel where the radiator grille used to be, and a color-matching tailgate at the rear end.
Similar styling cab be found inside, with the seats and the middle armrest trimmed with quilted leather. The electric powertrain most likely stays stock – as it probably should, anyway.
Overall, this F-150 Lightning is so bright and eye-catching you will be excused for thinking it’s the top spec. In reality, however, it is the base Pro trim that started off around $40,000. With the backorder spanning years and the manufacturer unable to boost the production volumes, it now costs nearly 50% more – from $58,000.
