Supra-swapped Ford F-150 fails to sell despite its star background

Hoonigan, a famous team of racing drivers and tuners, continues selling excess cars to free up space in its garage: this Ford F-150 ‘Frightening’ has recently gone on sale with a 2JZ engine under the hood and honest 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) at the wheels. The bidding fell short of the seller’s target at $26,500 – perhaps due to the truck’s poor technical condition.

Rather than just stuffing the 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE six-pot into the engine bay and calling it a day, the Hoonigan team has made numerous other improvements to ensure it lives up to the expectations. A Garrett turbo kit was installed along with improved ignition from Haltech, active cooling from Mishimoto, a Greddy intake manifold and an exhaust system built from various manufacturers’ components. A Tremec six-speed manual gearbox was entrusted with delivering the torque to the rear wheels.

Plenty has been done with the exterior, too. The pickup has a Lightning-style body kit, 19-inch Volk Racing wheels, new lighting all around and a low stance. Inside, the noise proofing has been improved, but there is no longer any climate control on board and the digital dash is not wired in.

The listing mentioned other technical issues. In 2017, the truck received a junk title but underwent three subsequent rebuilds over the course of the two years that followed. In its current state, it is drivable but has a broken bearing that needs urgent attention and devours gas more eagerly than it is supposed to. Everything considered, we feel it would be a big gamble to buy it even for $26,500 – you would need to be ready to do lots of extra work on it before it could be used normally.
