Ford has announced an additional engine update for its V8-powered F-150 Raptor lineup. It improves the output by a further 20 horsepower, leaving even the mighty Ram 1500 TRX behind.
Specifically, the latest Ford F-150 Raptor R uses the same 5.2-liter eight-cylinder engine as the Shelby GT500. Its latest modification gets air intake and ECU calibration improvements to produce 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW) – more than the 712 PS (702 hp / 524 kW) of the once-unsurpassed Ram 1500 TRX.
The peak torque stays capped at 868 Nm (640 lb-ft), but Ford claims it is now attainable in a wider range of RPMs than before. The other performance details, as well as the prices and the availability dates remain unannounced so far.
We assume that the new Raptor R will ship with the same scope of updates as the recently revealed 2024 F-150 lineup. These include new headlights, radiator grille, infotainment system, HUD, and semi-autonomous driving system. The Raptor R lineup will additionally benefit from new Fox suspension shocks.
