Ford postpones new EV production plans

The U.S. carmaker has officially postponed the production of a new electric pickup truck and seven-seat SUV.

According to the company’s electrification strategy, every single vehicle it is selling in the United States should get at least one hybrid powertrain option in the coming years. To achieve this goal, Ford decided to slow down its EV production rates and focus on hybrids instead – at least for now.

Having said that, the BEV market has been slow for a while now while hybrid sales have been on the rise. For instance, the Toyota Prius PHEV sold 293% better in Q1 compared to the year before. This can also explain why the company followed the example of many other automakers and redirected its investments.
