Supercharged Ford V8 7.3 Godzilla pumps out 1,000 HP on the dyno

Despite its young age, the Godzilla V8 is quite a popular crate engine among swappers. Australian shop Harrop decided to upgrade it with a supercharger to see what it is truly capable of.

In the video, the Godzilla churns out 550 HP (410 kW) instead of the stock 435 HP (324 kW) thanks to a throttle body taken out of a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. Once the charger kicks in, the power skyrockets to 803 HP (600 kW). The test crew continues to raise boost pressure until the dyno stand reports 1,015 HP (757 kW) and 1,339 Nm (988 lb-ft) of torque.

Harrop says the work is not finished yet, and when it is finished, the big-block eight will go under the hood of a Ford Falcon dragster. Preliminary estimates suggest it will be able to run the quarter-mile in 8.9 seconds hitting 242 km/h (150 mph) towards the end.
