Ford Fiesta ST Edition gets new adjustable suspension

Ford has premiered the Fiesta ST Edition, a laconically named special version of the regular Fiesta ST hot hatch. The car holds onto its usual engine while benefitting from an innovative suspension design extensively tested at the Nürburgring.

The ST Edition ships exclusively in the three-door body version and boasts an Azura Blue paintjob with black accents. The latter category encompasses the 18-inch, ten-spoke Ford Performance wheels, the side mirrors, the rear diffuser and the roof spoiler. Crack open the door to see Recaro seats, faux carbon fiber inserts, light blue trimming and a button labeled “S” on the steering wheel for Sports Mode.

The biggest highlight of the limited-run Fiesta is its height-adjustable suspension system that Ford Performance tuned and tested at the Nordschleife. Drivers can easily change the ride height themselves, the company claims.

Powering the hot hatch is the standard 1.5-liter three-pot turbocharged to deliver 200 hp (150 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) in conjunction with six-speed manual transmission. Reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill is a matter of 6.7 seconds, and the equipment list mentions three-mode ESP, launch control, Quaife differential with torque vectoring, and brakes with ventilated discs measuring 278mm (10.85in) at the front and 253mm (9.88in) in the rear.

Ford will be piecing together 500 units for Europe, including 300 for Great Britain. Prices there will start from £27,075, a massive premium over the £21,655 – £24,280 of the regular Fiesta ST.
