The Ford Fiesta and Puma used to share the same 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid power unit mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but now, you can opt for a superior seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Aside from basic convenience, the novelty brings along enhanced fuel economy and faster acceleration figures. The DCT is obtainable with the EcoBoost spec capable of 125 PS (123 hp / 92 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque, as well as the Puma-only spec rated at 155 PS (153 hp / 114 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft). Opting for the latter shaves 0.3s off the standard sprint time (0-100 km/h down from 9 to 8.7s) compared to the manual transmission. The built-in starter-generator supplies 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) of extra torque whenever the accelerator pedal is pressed.
Ford will be unveiling many other electrified and purely electric vehicles in Europe before the end of the year, so stay tuned!
