820-PS Ford Fiesta aspires to be the world’s fastest

The second generation of the Ford Fiesta hatchback came out in 1983 and was recognized as a fuel-efficient, affordable city car. Rebuilding it into a racer would be insane, but a resident of the UK named Phil did just that.

He purchased a used Fiesta for something like £250 and proceeded to dump more than £40,000 into it to turn it into the ultimate drag strip king. Everything was extensive modified in the powertrain, suspension and brake departments. As a result, the stock 2.0-liter inline four-pot managed to slam the wheels with 820 PS (809 hp / 603 kW), an unthinkable amount of power for this class of vehicle.

At a recent drag strip competition. Phil managed to score a 9.1-second quarter-mile and hit 257 km/h (159 mph). According to him, a few more months and a handful of modifications will see his car turn into the world’s fastest Fiesta.
