One of Ken Block’s cars, the ‘GYM3’ Ford Fiesta built 11 years ago for the third instalment of the Gymkhana show, will be up for grabs in Miami next month. With over 69 million views on the video, it is easy to explain why the auction holder estimates the car between $300,000 and $350,000 USD.
The donor vehicle is a stock Ford Fiesta ST, but there is precious little remaining stock in this extensive custom job performed by Olsbergs MSE. The Swedish tuning team came up with a special body kit for the vehicle, complete with flared fenders and a large rear wing. The cabin was allowed to keep a couple of bucket seats, racing controls and a roll cage, while the rest was thrown away to minimize weight. The impressive parking brake lever made it into the cabin upon a personal request from Block based on his sketch, the seller claims.
The suspension received an overhaul based on Öhlins components, while the brakes were replaced with an Alcon Racing system.
The two-liter Ford Duratec engine under the hood also landed with extreme racing modifications. In its current version, the mill pumps out 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and up to 895 Nm (660 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox by Olsbergs. The tuner says the standard sprint from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) only takes around two seconds.
The hot hatch enjoyed a full round of maintenance this spring that saw some of its parts replaced. It is not street-legal and designed for track use only.
