Car manufacturer Ford has revealed an innovative heads-up display (HUD) design that features a wide readability angle, high color fidelity and a special coating for people wearing anti-glare sunglasses.
The new display will ship with new Ford vehicles in Europe.
“Wearing polarized glasses can make a massive difference to visibility for drivers affected by glare, such as when stretches of water, snow or even tarmac reflect sunlight. The Head-up display we are introducing for the all-new Focus offers one of the brightest screens, has among the largest fields of view, and will be clearly visible to all our customers,” said Glen Goold, chief engineer of the Ford Focus project.
The HUD projector consists of a dashboard and a polycarbonate display. For the image to be as vivid as possible, there is a special coating normally used for polarized glasses and camera lenses.
The Ford Focus line will be the first to take advantage of the new tech,
