A 1974 Ford F-750 remodeled into a home on wheels is up for grabs in the USA right now with the bidding at $120,000.
The camper was built almost half a century ago by Illinois-based Edler&Company. Dubbed the Camelot Cruiser, it ran on F-750 underpinnings and used a Gerstenlager trailer for the living area. This particular example – out of the three produced in total – had stayed motionless in storage for many years, but the seller says he had it prepped for road driving before the sale.
A 6.4-liter V8 under the hood links to a four-speed automatic transmission. The truck and the trailer sport two distinct shades of green. A peek inside the cargo bay located at the bottom of the trailer and accessible from the right side reveals two snowmobiles picking up on the bi-color green theme in their own way. A still closer look reveals corrosion and dull chrome all around, so chances are you won’t call the condition perfect. Still, the listing says there are zero major defects.
The interior is a veritable time capsule from the 1970s. Lined with green carpeting on the floor and natural wood on the walls, it possesses a cheery yellow ambience supported by retro sofas, armchairs and curtains. Included in the sale are bed linens, towels and tableware in interior-matching colors.
The equipment on board includes an AC and a room-to-room phone. Back when it was built, the motorhome cost around $150,000. If you recalculate the sum allowing for the inflation, it would roughly translate into $900,000 modern-day USD.
It is confirmed that Edler&Company has built at least three Camelot Cruisers, although there could be more. Each model was designed to stand out from the others. This particular one ended up snowmobiles, another one with a boat, and the last one we know about actually housed a horse stall in the back.
