The ultimate Ford GT by M2K Motorsports almost makes it to 500 km/h

Let us recall for a moment what top speeds some modern hypercars are capable of. Bugatti Veyron Super Sport: 431 km/h (268 mph); Hennessey Venom GT: 435 km/h (270 mph); Koenigsegg Agera RS: 444 km/h (276 mph). Phenomenal, isn’t it? Well, those may now all choke on the exhaust of this Ford GT for all we care.

The talented tuner team over at M2K Motorsports just took its custom-built Ford GT out for a test ride on a mile-long track. The vehicle received a unique twin-turbo add-on that enabled it to ascend to around 2,000 horsepower (~1,500 kilowatts) in 2016. Some say that its current output may actually lie closer to 2,500 hp (1,865 kW), meaning more than four times the standard amount of power. Then again, we are not aware of any reliable means for measuring this kind of horsepower on the wheels.

Some time ago, M2K Motorsports hinted that it wanted to get the supercar going at 300 miles per hour (483 km/h) – a dream that became reality a few days ago. The extreme Ford GT finished the quarter mile going at 174.5 mph (280 km/h), crossed the half-mile mark at 240 mph (386 km/h) and reached the end of the mile-long track at 300 mph (483 km/h). Chances are it could go even faster if it weren’t for the lack of tarmac.

Watch and be amazed!
