Ford unveils the ultimate GT, a track tool unbound by rules or restrictions

At the ongoing Goodwood Festival of Speed in Great Britain, Ford has premiered the GT MK II, a series of just 45 extreme racecars priced at U.S. $1,200,000 each. The company proudly claims it has designed the model with no regard to any limitations usually imposed on such vehicles by various racing rules or regulations.

The newcomer’s most apparently obvious feature comes in the form of a revised aerodynamic kit, which now reportedly deliver consistently larger amounts of downforce. The set contains a front splitter, a rear diffuser, a two-piece rear wing, a massive roof scoop, and fender flares.

The Ford GT MK II takes advantage of a lightweight frame and features carbon-ceramic brakes, DSSV shocks, and pro-grade Michelin Pilot Sport GT tires. Powering the limited series is a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine dialed up to 700 hp (522 kW). This is full 200 hp (149 kW) above the performance level of the track-only Ford GTE and 50 hp (37 kW) above the street-legal GT.
