A YouTube vlogger felt like finding out which of the two Ford GT generations is faster: the new one or the old one. Watch the video to find out!
The official data sheets look close enough. The new 2018 Ford GT comes equipped with a 3.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine rated as high as 655 hp (488 kW). The 2005 model, tuned by Heffner for the purposes of this test, packs a 5.4-liter turbo V8 with nearly the same power rating. The oldie still packs a six-gear stick shift, while the newbie takes advantage of a 7-speed Getrag DCT.
Measuring the actual brake horsepower at the dyno revealed the following numbers. The Heffner-modded 2005 GT had 650 hp (485 kilowatts), while the 2018 GT only had 590 hp (440 kW).
The drag race took place at the Palm Beach track in Florida, USA. The winner crossed the finish line in 11.076 seconds, while its rival lagged 0.2 s behind. So, which one gets your bet?
