Ford builds the unique GT Heritage Edition to commemorate Ken Miles

In February 1966, Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby piloted their Ford GT40 MK II to victory at the Daytona 24 Hour Continental, setting the basis for claiming the gold of 24 Hours Le Mans. The exclusive Ford GT Heritage Edition revealed today pays homage to the great driver duo.

The car sports an iconic livery that combines Frozen White with red and black accents. The number 98 adorns the sides, and Heritage Gold wheels measure 20 inches across. Brembo brake calipers come painted red by default, but paying extra unlocks black option. The cabin is finished in red and black and boasts Alcantara en masse.

The tech stays stock, which in the case of the North American supercar means a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 under the hood producing 656 hp (489 kW) and 746 Nm (550 lb-ft) of torque. Carbon-fiber body enables it to hit 97 km/h (60 mph) in 2.8 seconds and max out at 347 km/h (215 mph).

In other news, Ford has announced Studio Collection, a customization program co-developed with Canada-based GT tuner Multimatic. The main novelty on offer is an expanded palette of available body colors, stripes and accents. Instead of just seven standard paintjobs, customers are invited to pick any color they like. Only 40 2021MY and 2022MY units will be customized, Ford reports.
