Ford GT production will be over by December, Multimatic says

We knew on official terms that 2022 would be the last year of the second-gen Ford GT, but some new specifics have only been revealed now.

According to Multimatic, which handles the assembly of the supercar series, a total of 1,350 units remain to be assembled. The process will officially end by December 2022.

The legendary first generation of the GT was designed with the sole purpose of disrupting Ferrari’s continued dominance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It eventually succeeded at that task, although it took a while. The second – current – generation was made to once again claim the top of the Le Mans pedestal. Ford succeeded on its first attempt this time around.

As sad as it may be to see such an impressive vehicle discontinued, the third generation should be coming soon, so we will just have to wait for that.
