Ford has unveiled the GT Mk IV, the last representative of the third generation of mid-engined, rear-wheel-drive supercars lacking a street license.
Ford Performance Motorsports says it designed the project virtually from scratch. The car ended up with an all-new carbon-fiber body with new headlights, no side mirrors and a special body kit. An air scoop appeared on the roof, while the side air intakes became much larger than before.
The stock 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 rated at 669 PS (660 hp / 492 kW) is no longer under the hood, replaced with a larger-displacement engine capable of surpassing 800 horsepower (600 kilowatts). The transmission and the suspension were also upgraded to their racing counterparts.
Only 67 units will be made, a reference to the year when the original GT40 Mark IV won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Prices will start from U.S. $1.7 million.
