The not-for-sale Ford GT goes up on sale yet again

Another owner of a Ford GT supercar has put it up for an auction, in spite of the sales agreement clearly stating that the vehicle cannot be sold within two years from the purchase date.

The previous owner of the car bought it for U.S. $1,815,000 and only drove it for two kilometers. In May 2018, the Ford company filed a lawsuit against him, demanding that the vehicle be removed from the Mecum auction.

The court ruling was in favor of the buyer, though, and the company’s claim was rejected. The temporary ban was lifted, and the sales went on as normal. It is still uncertain whether things will play out the same way this time around or not.

This isn’t the precedent-establishing case on Ford’s record, however. The company had earlier filed a claim against John Cena, a famous wrestler who also bought a Ford GT from someone who had owned it for less than two years and then re-sold it prematurely. The company sought U.S. $75,000 in damages.
