A custom-made Ford GT40 created for the movie Ford vs. Ferrari will be offered for bidding next month. Race Car Replicas built six such coupes, but this one was the only one to get a VIN and become street-legal.
As a pure stunt vehicle, it comes equipped with a 5.7-liter V8 mated to a six-speed stick shift. The filming crew used it to shoot the Le Mans race for the movie, among other things.
Whether any star power has ever sat behind the steering wheel remains unknown, though, as does the expected sale price. Another movie-related GT40 changed hands in early 2020, but that one has been recently built using modern car parts and driven by Christian Bale, which must have made it easier to find a buyer.
The movie premiered a few years ago and told the story of rivalry between Ford and Ferrari, focusing on Carroll Shelby’s drive towards building a perfect mid-engine supercar.
