The Romanian office of Ford has announced the reveal date of the next-generation Ford Kuga. It also revealed the first image of the SUV.
Based on the same C2 chassis as the fourth-gen Ford Focus, the Kuga will celebrate its first public outing on April 2, 2019. The platform the new SUV is built upon features an insulated rear subframe, which translates into better noise proofing, less vibration, and an added 20 percent of torsional stiffness.
The car resembles the Focus series on the outside, too. Similarities extend as far as the radiator grille, the elongated headlights, and the font used for the model badge on the tailgate.
The current Ford Kuga offers a choice between front wheel drive and 4WD. Engine availability depends on the market; there are modern EcoBoost engines offered alongside the more traditional naturally aspirated options. The transmission is automatic in all versions.
