According to reports, a new version of the Ford Kuga (also known as Escape) is underway to market in Europe with a longer wheelbase and more comfort for the rear passengers.
Rumors that a three-row Kuga/Escape was in the works circulated even before the current generation premiere, but today, it went official that the car exists and is called CX430.
The new SUV will likely keep the front end design of its predecessor, while everything starting from the b-pillars will be slightly redesigned. The roof would become less slanted for the back seat occupants to enjoy more headroom. The trims and engines will probably stay unchanged. Getting into a back seat will likely necessitate moving the second-row sofa a bit to the front and then back into place – this is something the current model allows, too.
The newcomer may make the old Edge crossover SUV obsolete in Europe and eventually phase out the Galaxy and S-Max MPVs. Availability in Europe is expected in a couple years, with other markets still hanging in the air.
