Ford turns its Mustang Mach-E into a fridge

The newest Ford Mustang Mach-E may not have much in common with its famed source of inspiration, but it is still a cost-efficient, eco-friendly, sufficiently fast modern SUV. Did we overlook the front trunk? We did!

Ford didn’t, though. In the company’s Super Bowl ad, it demonstrated us that tailgate parties could easily become frunk parties with the Mach-E, owing to the large 136-liter compartment the latter offers for storage. You could easily turn it into a fridge and pour ice in there, then put food and drinks in. As you can see for yourself, it can fit around 1,000 chicken wings!

Other than that, the U.S. automotive giant emphasizes the ease of cleaning: you can simply rinse the frunk with a water hose while keeping the valve at the bottom open to let it drain. Oh, and you can play Corn Hole / Bag Toss using your Mach-E, as Ford proceeds to demonstrate.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E will ship in multiple versions to choose from. You can get a RWD version with 75.7 kilowatt-hours of battery power and 252 hp (188 kW) provided by a single electric motor. A higher RWD spec offers 98.8 kWh and 282 hp (210 kW). AWD trims ship with the same battery specs, but their dual motors churn out 332 hp (248 kW). Finally, the range-topping Mach-E GT packs 459 hp (342 kW).

Ford claims that the battery can withstand operating temperatures ranging between -50 and +60 degrees Celsius (-58ºF …+140ºF). Charging the SUV for only ten minutes should translate into up to 75 kilometers (47 miles) of range, and an eight-year warranty covers all powertrain components.
