Chinese automotive market operates according to its own laws – for one, customers there tend to prefer long wheelbases and more seats. After conducting a survey, Ford decided to narrow down its Mach-E SUV range for that country.
Specifically, the U.S. automaker will only offer the high-end GT spec in China, which sports better exterior and tech than its entry-level counterparts for Europe and North America.
Buyers in China will be able to opt for the flagship GT Performance Edition there, which commands 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW) and 860 Nm (634 lb-ft) of torque. It only needs 3.5 seconds to zap 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) and has 378 km (235 miles) of range on a charge.
More affordable GT specs will also be available there, offering less engine power but more range (up to 483 km / 300 miles).
Shipments will begin late next summer.
