Ford to bring a smaller, VW-based Mustang Mach-E to Europe in 2023

Ford risked much when releasing its first electric crossover SUV with the Mustang badge, but the gamble seems to have paid off: most people liked it. Now, the company is designing a downsized copy of it using the Volkswagen MEB platform as basis.

It is official that Ford has agreed to buy 600,000 VW MEB units in six years starting from 2023. All vehicles will be assembled in Cologne, Germany, where the manufacturer has its electric vehicle production HQ.

Some of these 600 thousand units will be used to produce a new car similar to the current VW ID.3 and ID.4 in terms of tech and the Mach-E in terms of styling. The dimensions will be closer to those of the Ford Focus, although the company promises a roomier interior.
