Shelby introduces its first EV

U.S. automaker Shelby has presented its very first all-electric vehicle, the Mach-E GT for Europe. It both weighs less and rides lower than the Ford Mustang Mach-E donor.

The company explains its choice of Europe as the target market by arguing that EV adoption rates have been livelier there than in the United States recently. Only 100 units will be produced, and all customers will be free to choose the motor specs that suit them.

In its tuned form, the Mach-E gets a number of lightweight carbon-fiber bits. This includes the hood cover, the faux grille, the front splitter, the side sill extensions and the side mirror caps. New suspension drops the SUV 30 mm (1.2 inches) closer to the ground, resulting in a lower center of gravity and drag, as well as better handling.

On the outside, the car sports gloss-black accents, a special paint coat, Shelby badges all around and special plaques. The feature list mentions a Borla Active Performance system imitating the soundtrack of a powerful ICE car.

The whole set comes priced at roughly €25,000 over stock car. The production starts in July.
