Ford’s new compact-sized pickup Maverick will celebrate its official reveal on Instagram and TikTok next Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Hollywood star Gabrielle Union will host the show.
Ford has accompanied the press release with several photos of Union, 48, that picture her sitting behind the wheel of the truck. Judging by the badge, the star of Bring It On (2020) got an XLT spec for a test drive. Note also the teaser pic with the name ‘Maverick’ on it: the font used is the same as the font found on a leaked shot of a test car bed from last year.
In all likelihood, the car comes built on the same C2 platform as the Ford Focus, Bronco Sport, and Kuga/Escape. This would land it with turbocharged engines rated at 184 and 249 metric horsepower (181 and 246 hp; 135 and 183 kW, respectively). Front-wheel drive should come as standard, while higher specifications may get AWD.
