Ford stays true to its previously declared intention to minimize light passenger car lineup in the USA in favor of SUVs and trucks. Meet the Maverick, a very compact and wallet-friendly pickup.
The model uses the Bronco Sport chassis and comes with a two-row, five-seat cabin as the only option. The truck bed spans 1,380 mm (4.5 feet) long, which suggests that the Maverick is a direct rival of the Hyundai Santa Cruz.
The entry-level specification is FWD hybrid. A 2.5-liter engine hits a CVT with 194 PS (191 hp / 143 kW). Alternatively, you can go for a 2.0-liter turbo four-pot rated at 254 PS (250 hp / 187 kW) mated to an eight-range A/T and AWD (optional).
Customers can choose from three trim levels dubbed the XL, XLT, and Lariat. The first one offers an eight-inch multimedia display, a 4.2-inch digital dashboard, a 4G LTŠ• model with Wi-Fi support, and a number of electronic assists. Paying extra unlocks a larger dash panel, cruise control, imitation leather interior, and even more assists.
