Starting at $20,000, the Ford Maverick is the cheapest U.S.-sold Ford vehicle, so there is little wonder the company registered 100,000 pre-orders since debut. It will be available in ICE and hybrid forms, and EPA just published range test results for the former.
The non-electric Maverick pickup comes with an EcoBoost engine rated at 254 PS (250 hp / 187 kW). According to the agency, the FWD version of it offers 30 MPG on the highway and 23 MPG in the city. The AWD variant is predictably more demanding at 29 MPG and 22 MPG, respectively.
It remains to be announced how much better the hybrid version is at conserving gas. Ford claims it should be capable of 40 MPG.
