Ford pauses Maverick & Mach-E sales due to safety belt issues

Ford has temporarily stopped selling the Mach-E and Maverick models and is recalling a number of units over faulty rear seat belts that could come loose from their mounting points during an accident and cause injury.

Apparently, the hole diameter for the fastening bolts in the affected vehicles was larger than intended. The recall campaign applies to all Mach-E units produced between October 5 and November 18, 2021, as well as all Maverick pickups assembled between October 6–20, 2021. Dealerships are prohibited to sell vehicles from the affected batches until all necessary fixes have been made.

The total quantity of cars recalled is 2,626.
