Ford Maverick puts on a $300 suit, teleports to the past

Tuning does not have to be expensive. If this Ford Maverick is any indication, you can get plenty done with a few strategically placed stickers.

The compact pickup belongs to the TestDrivenTV team and acts as a test vehicle. Having grown tired of its stock looks, they decided to spruce things up a bit with a pinch of retro aesthetics. Back in the late 1970s, Ford used to ship its SUVs, pickups and vans with an optional exterior package called Free Wheeling, which basically just brightened up the exterior with some colorful stripes.

The decals cost around $300 to buy and a couple of weekends to apply. A white stripe was put inside the radiator grille as well, and a white Maverick logo made its way onto the tailgate. It may not seem like much, but it was enough to lend the Maverick a certain aura of aged class.

Next on the list of planned modifications are wheels and tires. Watch the video to check it out for yourself.
