2025 Ford Maverick bows in the USA

Ford has opened its preorder books for the refreshed Maverick pickup, but the actual deliveries will begin closer to the end of the year.

The compact truck has received a number of meaningful updates since its debut in 2021. It is now obtainable with a turbo four-cylinder engine rated at 254 PS (251 hp / 185 kW) and a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, which outputs 194 PS (191 hp / 143 kW). Before the facelift, only the former engine was available with four driven wheels, while the hybrid went FWD only. The updated lineup fixes this shortcoming, offering AWD and the optional Pro Trailer Assist package in both versions.

Inside, the infotainment display now measures 12.3 inches corner-to-corner instead of just 8, and the system itself is a newer SYNC 4 model. 5G connectivity on board enables quick OTA updates. Like the F-Series trucks, the new Maverick now comes equipped with surround view cameras.

Before the facelift, the different Maverick trims looked all the same except for the wheels. The update brings along distinct radiator grille designs to help differentiate the cheaper versions from the high-end ones. The optional off-road package “Tremor” introduced in 2022 is no longer a package – it is now the name of the top trim level.

Ford promises that, even with all the improvements, the Maverick will retain its status of North America’s cheapest mid-size pickup on the market.
