Tesla, Inc. once again made the headlines with a fiery incident – but not of the usual kind involving its cars, heavens be praised.
Ricky Criss, a resident of a small town in Oregon, USA, must have fantasized about being Ken Block as he drank alcohol and climbed behind the steering wheel of his elderly Mustang. After a couple drift stunts, the engine overheated and burst into flames. The blazing car proceeded to set on fire a Tesla Supercharger station right next to it.
The driver got away unscathed – but only barely, because, after jumping out of the fiery inferno, he had second thoughts about leaving his personal belongings behind and immediately attempted to climb back in. If not for the police officer stopping him in time, he would have likely burned to a crisp.
The test showed twice the permitted amount of blood alcohol. Criss remains detained for driving under influence and dangerous driving, and is likely looking forward to paying Tesla a hefty sum in damages, too.
