Ford attended the SEMA-2018 tuning show with as many as five souped-up Mustang builds, one of which has now gone on sale for U.S. $46,000. It is up to you to decide whether it is worth the expense, though.
The car immediately catches the eye with its exclusive paintjob called BASF Majestic Purple. It sports an RTR body kit comprising a front bumper, side skirts, a spoiler, a radiator grille, DRLs and widened fenders. Air-Ride suspension kit caters for comfort, six-piston brake calipers at the front for added control, and 20-inch Forgeline wheels wrapped in Michelin tires for style points, mostly.
Pop up the hood, and chances are you will be surprised to see an EcoBoost 2.3 there instead of the far more capable 5.0-liter V8. The mill isn’t as simple as it may look, however, taking advantage of a Borg Warner turbocharger, a chip tune, a new exhaust system and manifold, and a better intercooler. Regrettably, no specific numbers exist to back things up here.
The interior sports plenty of mods, too, notably including Recaro seats and a Kicker audio system with a couple subwoofers in the trunk.
The car only has around 5,632 km (3,500 miles) under its belt and costs $45,999. A no-frills 2019 Mustang with the same base engine starts from just $26,000, so whether the SEMA build is worth the premium is open to debate.
