Restoring classical U.S. cars is something everyone seems to be doing these days. Even so, Gabe’s Custom Interiors has managed something special here.
Despite what the company’s name may suggest, the project goes far beyond a simple cabin makeover. The 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback dropped its OEM engine and received a 4.6-liter V8 taken straight out of a luxurious grand tourer – the Lincoln Mark VIII. The owner seems completely fine with the fact that the build produces slightly less than 300 hp (224 kW), saying he wanted a car that would be easy and intuitive to drive. Apparently, the restomod delivers plenty on that front.
Other noteworthy modifications include flared fenders adding 102 mm (4 inches) to the body width, full metal body and kit without modern reinforced plastics of any kind, LED taillights, and an interior with a European touch to it (note the Lamborghini switches).
The car is a one-off, but you may contact Gabe’s Custom Interiors if you would like something similar.
