Restoration of automotive classics may be the new black, but truly outstanding projects are hard to find. This 1969 Ford Mustang Mk5 retrofitted with a 5.0-liter V8 certainly makes the list, though – and it is on sale.
The client wanted his elderly ride turned into an aggressive daily driver, or Pro Tourer. This sounds less garage queen-ey than ‘restomod’, but the base principle is the same. The body received a fresh coat of British Racing Green with black accents, modern 18-inch wheels were put onto the axles, and a large spoiler lip rounded off the changes on the outside. The result is quite authentic-looking and eye-catching.
Interior upgrades included rack-and-pinion steering, HVAC, a custom steering wheel, and seats wrapped in leather and vinyl. A 5.0-liter V8 slotted in under the hood paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
If you are interested, Mecum Auctions still has this one on offer.
