Ford Mustang gets 276 extra horses just from a new supercharger

Edelbrock superchargers using the R2650 TVS rotating assembly are quite popular among car aficionados who don’t have the cash to spare on top-tier sports cars. Here’s a Ford Mustang GT that rivals the Shelby GT500 in terms of raw performance.

Before the tuning, the car hit the dyno with 410 PS (404 hp / 302 kW) and 509 Nm (375 lb-ft) of torque. Retrofitting the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with the supercharger model mentioned above resulted in a push to 686 PS (677 hp / 504 kW) and 749 Nm (552 lb-ft) of torque, or 276 metrical horsepower above stock.

The upgrade also fits other V8 Mustangs, including those with 4.6 and 5.2 liters of displacement. The video focuses on Stage 2, but you could cut corners and go for Stage 1, which still nets you a neat 623 PS (614 hp / 458 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. As an alternative, you could go all-out and get the ultimate package for 800+ PS (800+ hp / 600+ kW), ending up with a pony capable of running the quarter-mile strip in under nine seconds.
