At the SEMA expo last week, popular U.S.-based country singer and Nicole Kidman’s husband Keith Urban introduced the audience to his gorgeous ‘Stang restomod built by Ford itself.
Urban received the sporty ride from his wife as a wedding anniversary gift in 2008, by which moment it had already been restored once. He did not particularly like the fit and finish, though, and persuaded Ford to conduct a complete restoration once again, doing things by the book this time around.
When the muscle car left the factory it was black, but Urban wished it re-painted in Marianna Trench Blue, which is said to be the world’s darkest color of blue named after the deepest area of the ocean bottom. In regular lighting, the body of the car appears jet black, but scintillates in a gorgeous combination of blue and purple when exposed to powerful floodlights.
Elsewhere, the classic ride rocks Forgeline rims shod in Michelin rubber, Bilstein shock absorbers, Wilwood rotor brakes with multi-piston calipers, and two added subframes. The interior makes use of noise proofing, HVAC and unique seats wrapped in leather.
Powering the restomod is a 5.0-liter supercharged engine linked to a ten-speed A/T and rear-wheel-drive system for 710 PS (700 hp / 522 kW).
