Latest Ford Mustang and Explorer now available in high-end police car flavor

U.S.-based Ford tuning specialist Steeda has produced police car upgrades for the current Ford Mustang GT and Ford Explorer Interceptor. In addition to the mandatory livery and other expected mods, both cars wound up with practical upgrades en masse.

Most of the effort went into maximizing the performance of the suspension during high-speed street maneuvers. To that end, the cars ended up with sway bars, heavy-duty bearings and bushings, braces and self-alignment parts. Steeda takes care to fine-tune every finished suspension system until it is perfectly aligned and ready to perform at peak capacity.

In addition to the above, the Mustang takes advantage of a cold air intake system, a reinforced 10-speed A/T and an ECU tune that sees its power and torque output increasing over stock. The company doesn’t go into any detail here, however, nor does it delve into the interior modifications much.

Rounding things off here is an AWE exhaust system optimized for track use. On the one hand, sneaking up on perpetrators with an engine tune like that would hardly be possible. On the other hand, perpetrators will probably think twice before attempting to flee from a police car sounding like that.
