Muscle cars like the Ford Mustang aren’t generally your go-to vehicles for towing large things around, but extreme tuning turned this ‘Stang into a soot-spewing mutant on wheels.
The owner wanted his ride to have more torque and be efficient at towing trailers, so he swapped the stock engine out for a 5.9-liter Cummins six-pot turbo. The original output was at 233 PS (230 hp / 172 kW) and 597 Nm (440 lb-ft), but he apparently managed to boost it far beyond stock – although the specifics are unknown.
At any rate, you can see how effortlessly the monstrous Mustang hauls a whole motorboat behind, only struggling a bit when it needs to be pulled ashore. Clouds of coal-black smoke straight from the obnoxiously loud hood exhaust and burnouts accompany the action. The engine bay is exposed, so you can take a good look at the internals. At least, once the smoke clears.
And if you are wondering how good – if at all – this particular pony is at straight-line acceleration, the author of the video has the answer for you. Apparently, it is fairly fast with a quarter-mile time of 13.2 seconds – 0.7s faster than the entry-level four-cylinder stock car but 1.1s slower than the range-topping GT version.
