Saleen, a car tuning company founded by Steve Saleen in 1983, has shared images of a new project set to coincide with its 40th anniversary. The company will be releasing 10 heavily modded Ford Mustangs dubbed the SA-40 and offering them starting from $142,000, but you may try to get one with a massive discount.
Specifically, one of the cars will be raffled among the people who donated money to a foundation studying the methods of curing cancer. The winner will be picked at random.
The base car is a previous-generation Mustang convertible set to go out of production soon. In its SA-40 guise, it gets a sophisticated aerodynamic package and a pair of humps installed over the rear seat row, making it look a bit like a speedster. The tuner emphasizes that you can take this part off if you don’t need it and restore access to the back seat row, which remains perfectly usable.
All cars will come finished in Speedlab Yellow with black and carbon-fiber accents. The stock 5.0-liter V8 will be boosted to 811 PS (800 hp / 596 kW) and 915 Nm (675 lb-ft) of torque. The suspension and the brakes will be tuned to match the rest of the setup, too.
