Ford Mustang goes on sale after 3 decades of staying abandoned

A 1966 Ford Mustang has cropped up on eBay recently looking stock, but with a record of staying motionless in a warm garage for 31 years straight. The bidding has reached $8,100 so far, but there is still time for the stakes to go up.

The seller admits that the body condition is far from ideal with small dents and corrosion throughout. The chrome is still in place, though, and restoring the paint should be trivial.

The main advantage of this particular example, per the owner, is its pristine interior condition. Indeed, the photos make it look like the coupe has just rolled off the assembly line.

A round of pre-sale maintenance left this ‘Stang with a replacement fuel tank and carburetor, repaired brakes and cooling system, a new exhaust manifold and tires, and serviced ignition.

A peek under the hood reveals one of the most basic engines the muscle car shipped with, a 3.3-liter six-pot mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It pumped out around 120 horsepower (90 kilowatts) on its best days, but those days are gone and the actual mileage is a mystery.
