The Blue Oval plans to continue making V8-powered cars alongside battery EVs, CarSales reports referencing Ford Performance executive Mark Rushbrook.
According to him, the company is resolved to keep the V8 under the hood of its Mustang lineup for as long as legally possible. It even intends to keep investing into the development of new, cleaner V8 engines.
There are no specifics on how the carmaker plans to keep a large-displacement petrol engine alive in the era of ever-tightening environmental standards. The current Mustang generation relies on a naturally aspirated five-liter V8, which will most likely be replaced with a smaller-sized supercharged eight-cylinder in the next one. As an alternative, the muscle car may switch to using biofuels.
