$242k turns a classic Mustang into an EV

Alan Mann Racing, the company famous for preparing Ford Mustang cars for racing since the 1960s, has unveiled its next big project: a first-gen Mustang EV. Custom orders will be processed starting from £200,000 (U.S. $242,000).

The first sports car in the batch will get an electric motor rated at 304 PS (300 hp / 299 kW) and a 72-kWh battery pack. It will go 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 5.2 seconds and hit its speed ceiling at 156 km/h (97 mph). A single charge will last approximately 350 km (217 miles).

The company will completely restore every car, install independent suspension with height-adjustable coils, and bring the steering up to date. The exterior will stay stock and the cabin layout will be largely preserved, too. Customers will still benefit from new, more comfortable seats, climate control and a multimedia system with a compact display seamlessly integrated into the rest of the interior.

AMR believes that traditional ICE cars, including many classics, may soon become illegal on the streets. Electrification comes at a cost, but it provides old car fans with a chance to continue driving them no matter what happens.
