Ford has released a teaser video announcing the forthcoming release of a limited series of track-only cars to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Mustang Cobra Jet series. Only a small batch of 68 such cars will roll off the assembly lines without VIN numbers to make them street-legal.
Upon a closer look, the new Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 50th Anniversary is a dragster built especially for the races held by the U.S. National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). According to Ford, vehicle makes ΒΌ of a mile in 8.5 seconds and accelerates to 150 mph (241 km/h) at most.
Each Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 50th Anniversary will come equipped with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, sports suspension, a roll cage and racing-grade seats. Its price is currently estimated at U.S. $100,000.
