Ford finally unleashes its Mustang Mach 1 on a racetrack

At long last, Ford took the wraps off its latest driver’s car: a revived Mustang Mach 1, which comes powered by the Bullitt V8 5.0 capable of 487 hp (360 kW) and Shelby GT350 manual gearbox (10-G auto optional). Sales will start next spring.

As you can see, the massive central air intake never made it past the concept stage, having been replaced by elegant narrow slits. The radiator grille sports a 3D pattern, the side sills are quite original, the splitter looks sharp, the diffuser as sporty as they get, and the 19-inch wheels make us remember the classical Magnum 500 model.

The Mach 1 limited series will be available in Fighter Jet Grey and seven other paint schemes. Prices will be announced closer to the launch.

The original Ford Mustang Mach 1 emerged in early 2000s and packed a V8 worth 309 hp (230 kW).
