Ford Mustang Mach-E gets enlisted in police in UK

Municipalities have been showing increased interest towards all-electric cars lately, which is unsurprising given their lower maintenance costs and higher comfort. The police in England has now joined the trend with a fleet of Ford Mustang Mach-E patrol cars.

Aside from an appropriate livery, the Day-Glo Mach-E features auxiliary lights powered by a separate battery block so as not to drain the main traction battery. The car needs less than four seconds to zap into pursuit at 60 mph (97 km/h), so most perpetrators will have a hard time escaping justice.

This would not be the first time Ford provided police departments with customized Mustangs. In the 1980s and 90s, Mustang SSP patrol vehicles were a frequent sight on U.S. roads. That one packed a high-performance 5.0-liter V8, while some units even had manual transmission.
