Ford Mustang Mach-E fails another moose test even harder

Swedish magazine Teknikens Värld has tested the battery-powered Ford Mustang Mach-E for its obstacle evasion capabilities. The test driver barely managed to do one imperfect run at under 68 km/h (42.3 mph).

Every attempt ended in issues of one sort or another. At 68 km/h, the car skidded farther into the adjacent lane than needed. At 72 km/h (44.7 mph), it failed to return to its own lane in time.

The test crew pointed out that all the main rivals of the Mach-E showed better results at this test. In particular, the Tesla Model Y succeeded at 75 km/h (46.6 mph), the Ioniq 5 at 72 km/h (44.7 mph), and the classic Mustang Coupe at 77 km/h (47.8 mph).

The team of km77.com had also moose-tested the Mach-E before, with one reasonably successful run at 71 km/h (44.1 mph). That team didn’t criticize the car for steering, but found issue with its understeer and low-grip tires. Neither of the testers revealed the drive configuration used for the test.
