Two Mustangs, two worlds: Shelby GT500 vs. Mach-E

What the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance has in common with the Shelby GT500 is the family name – but the similarities end there. The Mach-E is an all-electric SUV, while the coupe chugs gas and actually is a muscle car. Still, a drag race comparison between the two seemed inevitable.

The Shelby GT500 looks like a clear winner on paper. Its 5.2-liter V8 churns out 771 PS (760 hp / 567 kW), while the Mach-E GT Performance only has 487 PS (480 hp / 358 kW). Furthermore, the coupe is much lighter. Where the Mach-E takes its revenge, however, is the torque, which is instantly available at launch. That, and it is an AWD vehicle, while the GT500 has to make do with rear-wheel drive.

The video provides a clear answer to which one is superior at straight-line acceleration. Those who would rather prefer spoilers may rest assured that the ICE car comes out on top in every single attempt.
