Video: Ford Mustang Mach-E cannot keep up with Skoda Superb

The $61,995 Mach-E GT is the pinnacle of the Ford Mustang Mach-E lineup. Throw in an extra six grand, and you get Performance Edition with the same 487 PS (480 hp / 358 kW) of electric power, but a torque boost to 860 Nm (634 lb-ft). AutoTopNL decided to see how these figures translated into real-life autobahn driving.

The test was performed on wet asphalt, which naturally limited traction, but the Mach-E GT should have been able to compensate for that at least partly with its AWD configuration. It launched 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 4.47 seconds, inspiring hope in its abilities. Unfortunately, it did not go much farther than that hope.

During the test shown in the video, a Skoda Superb Scout can be seen pulling up and effortlessly overtaking the American muscle SUV. Apparently, having the word Performance in your car’s name does not automatically make it superior to an AWD wagon from Europe. We don’t know what engine the Superb had, but the petrol version is in very low demand for that specific model, so it was probably the two-liter diesel mill.
